Poloniny National Park

Description

Poloniny is the easternmost Slovak national park. The place that connects the Slovak, Polish and Ukrainian borders is Kremenec - the highest point of the national park (1,210 m above sea level). The name of the area is derived from the typical phenomenon of the Eastern Carpathians, flowery mountain meadows above the upper border of the forest - polonín. At present, it is the only area in Slovakia where a wild population of maned bison lives.
